Principles of structural stability of underground salt cavities
Theory of plasticity is applied to evaluation of stress and strain conditions of salt cavities; concept of yielded zone which develops around cavities is introduced, and theoretical development of extent and stress distribution of zone is illustrated through use of ideal spherical and cylindrical cavities under uniform triaxial compression.
