Concrete corrosion induced by sulphur bacteria in sewer
Rapid deterioration effects on concrete in main sewer at Burton upon Trent in Great Britain have been tested; concrete cubes made with ordinary portland cement and with sulphate-resisting portland cement and other, concrete test pieces have been exposed in sewer for 2 yr and deterioration assessed; results show deterioration is due to sulphuric acid generated by bacterial activity comparison of this corrosion with that found in warmer climates.
