Tensile strength of tension member depending upon its length
In view of known test results on yarn threads and cables it is concluded that any material loses tensile strength by length which cannot be predicted by testing shorter sections; graphs and calculations are presented; special precautions are needed e.g. in application of cables or tendons in prestressed structures.
