Auckland harbour bridge -- Construction
Erection of 5800 tons of steel for 7 spans of from 265 ft to 800 ft, supported upon cellular concrete piers on steel caisson foundation sunk under air pressure; caissons of harbor piers were handled throughout from floating plant and were launched and floated down to harbor bed without use of lowering gear; erection of one of navigation spans, 580 ft long and weighing 920 tons, involved preconstruction and transference to its final position by floating.
