Dynamics of tier buildings
Dynamic response of multistory (tier) buildings to wind gusts, mild blast loading, and moderate earthquakes is calculated by using linear theory; three-dimensional analytical model was required to simulate stiffness and mass properties of building containing horizontal diaphragms at all framing levels; equations of motion for story displacements are solved by specialized form of normal mode theory; techniques are incorporated into computer program for dynamic analysis of buildings; 20-story building is analyzed to determine its vibrational characteristics and its response to severe wind gust and specified ground acceleration.
