New building code enacted into law in New York city
New code permits experimental demonstration construction not in compliance with technical provisions of code; code allows reduced fireproof ratings, increased building heights and areas, reduced exit-stair requirements, and lesser requirement for fire towers; more occupancy classes and more construction classifications are provided; increased foundation loads are permitted; ultimate strength analysis, prestressed concrete, shell and folded-plate roofs, cable-suspension roofs, reinforced brick and structural plywood are permitted.
