Review of literature on use of truss stiffening design in suspension bridges of very long span; theoretical and experimental approach for assessing aerodynamic ("flutter") forces is developed; method is based on linearized mathematical model in which general aerodynamic forces employed are obtained in coefficient form as functions of reduced velocity from simple wind tunnel tests on bridge deck section models.
