Pedestrian footbridge at Wiesbaden-Schierstein; 150 m long 3.76 m wide arch bridge has 96.4 m span with 8 m rise; arch is supported by elastic concrete joints on abutments formed each by 18 inclined end-bearing concrete piles; cantilever access ramps are suspended from arch forming triangular lattice with upper ramps working in tension and lower ramps, fixed to abutments, working in compression; this arrangement relieves foundations from large part of horizontal pressure exerted by arch; latter was constructed by cantilever method, using lightweight concrete weighing 1608 kg/cu m.
