Torsional rigidity of concrete bridge decks
Estimation of torsional rigidities or torsional constants of bridge deck systems is considered and general approach to problem is proposed; formulas for estimating torsional constants are given and their application is illustrated by numerical examples; results of small number of model tests are reported and compared with those predicted by method proposed and those in current use; experimental investigation included comparisons for plates with no transverse members and consideration of effect of transverse ribs or slots.
