Limiting heights of breaking and nonbreaking waves on rubble-mound breakwaters -- Hydraulic model investigation
Limiting breaking and nonbreaking waves on sloping faces of rubble-mound breakwaters were determined as function of breakwater side slope, slope of bottom seaward of structure, water depth at toe of structure, wave period, and shape of armor unit or porosity of cover layer; plotted data are maximum wave steepness vs relative depth for variations in breakwater slope, bottom slope, and porosity of cover layer; maximum wave steepness is influenced more by relative depth and bottom slope seaward of structure than by slope of breakwater face or porosity of armor layer.
