Attempts to relate flange slenderness ratio to rotation capacity of steel wide-flange beams subjected to moment gradient; steel used was CSA G 40.12; for beams under high moment gradient, length of local buckle was restricted by extent of yielding, while for beams under lower moment gradient, local buckle occupied only part of yielded length.
