Results of investigation of reinforced concrete diaphragm beams
Results of fracture tests carried out on single-span and continuous diaphragm beams are given in tables and graphs; tests indicate that structural aspects should be primarily considered as determinative factors in designing beams, and that time-consuming exact calculation of reinforcement or of concrete stresses by means of thin plate theory is seldom required in practice; simple formulas are given for statical dimensioning of main reinforcement, and practical recommendations are given as to additional reinforcements and their distribution.
