Horizontal shear failure of prestressed composite T-beams with cast-in-situ lightweight concrete deck
Destructive tests on prestressed composite beams, each comprising precast normal-weight concrete web and cast-in-situ lightweight concrete slab are described; test results indicate horizontal shear strength of rough-bonded surface between lightweight concrete and normal-weight concrete and effect of varying amount of steel binders; test specimens consisted of five composite T-beams, each 9 ft 6 in. long and comprising 4×9 in. prestressed granite-concrete web and 18×2 in. sintered pulverized-fuel-ash aggregate (Lytag) concrete flange.
