Giant cribs are made of wood
Construction of 18 giant cribs to extend existing wharf from 1000 to 1800 ft and to increase its width from 50 to 200 ft at Point-au-Pere, Quebec; 110 ft long, 75 ft wide, and 50 ft high cribs are floated to site and filled with rocks; due to adverse experience with sheet pile constructions or similar works, wooden cribs were chosen; 7,500,000 board feet of 12 in. square BC Hemlock timbers were used.
