Transverse shearing stress in rectangular plates
By means of plate equations developed by E.Riessner, transverse shearing stresses in thin, simply-supported, rectangular plate are determined; load distribution may be defined by any function which can be represented by double cosine series; solution for uniform loading is discussed in detail; experimental results obtained by frozen-stress technique of photoelasticity are compared with predictions of Reissner theory and classical theory; boundary conditions used are vanishing of deflection, bending moments, and twisting moments; results show marked difference between two theories near corner zones of plate.
