AbstractThe aim of this paper is to demonstrate the role post-occupancy evaluation (POE) plays in assessing the success or failure of low-income self-help housing settlements. A survey was conducted in Tensiti on a random sample of household heads. The survey revealed the degree of user involvement in planning, plot allocation and the provision of basic services. The study shows that POE has great potential and ability to determine if the objectives of a project have been met. It can also be used to formulate policy alternatives for future projects.
