Thin steel fibre cement mortar overlay for concrete pavement
AbstractThis paper examines, on the basis of experimental results, the feasibility of using thin steel fibre cement mortar overlay for the rehabilitation of surface-deteriotated concrete pavements. The rehabilitation work should desirably produce an overlaid pavement which has an improved resistance to surface abrasion, and a load-carrying capacity equal to or higher than the original design. The experiments were designed to study the properties of steel fibre cement mortar overlays in these two aspects. The test results suggest that 1% steel fibre cement mortar overlay would satisfactorily rehabilitate a surface-deteriorated concrete pavement, and that overlay 40 mm thick is preferable to overlay 25 mm thick.
