Inhibition of oxidation of hydrocarbons with phenol mixtures of equal inhibiting effect
Abstract 1. A study was made of the action of 4-methoxphenol mixtures with mesitol in unbranched chain (60°C) and in degenerate-branched chain process of oxidation of ethylbenzene and cemene (120°C). 2. It was shown that mixtures of these inhibitors in low-temperature oxidation have a synergic action, in high-temperature oxidation both synergism and antagonism is observed according to the component ration in the mixture. 3. It was shown by mathematical simulation that the effect described is explained by the interaction of inhibitors, their participation in chain propagation and by the formation of a new inhibiting compound during the reaction.
