A shrinking unreacted core model for estimating the compressive strength of portland cement
AbstractA method for estimating the compressive strength of concrete from physical characterization of ground cement is developed. The estimation method is based on data obtained from a granulometry curve of ground cement and a so-called shrinking unreacted core model. It is shown that the model gives essential information about the hydration characteristics of concrete, and is found to be a far more relevant grinding parameter than the Blaine specific area measure of cement that is used in most grinding mills today. The method has been tested on an industrial grinding mill with the capacity of 750 tons/day.
