Spectral wave refraction under the influence of depth and current
Abstract This paper develops a method by which offshore frequency—direction wave spectra may be refracted shoreward under the influence of changing depth and currents, which are assumed to be uniform over the depth and steady in time. Energy dissipation and depth changes caused by wave—current interaction are excluded. The method is based upon a spectral depth refraction model developed at Hydraulics Research Limited, Wallingford, UK, and current refraction techniques developed at the Institute of Hydrodynamics and Hydraulic Engineering, Technical University of Denmark.
