Computation of rate of heave versus load under quasi-steady state
Abstract A “rigid ice” model for the mechanism of frost heave provides easily computed relationships between rate of heave and surface load for specified thermal and ground water regimes in special cases, namely, stationary fields of temperature and pore water pressure in unfrozen soil. Examples are based on experimentally measured soil functions for a 4–8 μm silt fraction.
