Numerical study of punch-through shear specimen in mode II testing for cementitious materials
AbstractThe finite element analysis has been used to determine the stress intensity factors KII in the punch-through shear specimens. The numerical analysis indicated that the shear part of loading at the crack tip is rapidly increasing with decreasing H/w and increasing a/w ratio. Fracture tests on several punch-through shear specimens of mortar were conducted in order to experimentally determine KIIC value. The average values for KIIC in compression shear were found in the range of 1.8 to 2.0 MN .
