Simplified equations for deflection of multistory frames
Abstract Simple equations for calculating top deflection of regular rigid jointed, rectangular plane frameworks under lateral load (Fig.1 (a)) are derived. Both bending and column axial deformation are taken into account. The equations are most useful for assessing the stiffness of frames in preliminary design of multistorey buildings.
