Reduction and joined colorimetric quantification of allergen sources: A case study
AbstractIn the indoor environment mites, insects, and xerophilic fungi, the house-dust allergens, are the most important producers of allergenic substances. Colorimetric quantification of allergologically relevant mite infestation in house dust was performed by detection of the nitrogenous waste product, guanine, to follow home sanitation effectiveness after acaricidal cleaning. The decrease in number of mites after acaricidal treatment can be measured quantitatively by the amounts of guanine present in house dust before and directly after treatment.
