Catalytic action of lead oxide on elementary stages of liquid-phase oxidation of ethylbenzene
Abstract 1. xidation of ethylbenzene in the presence of lead oxide takes place by a heterogeneous-homogeneous radical-chain mechanism. 2. Ratios of were derived kinetically at different temperatures and the parameter was calculated. PbO does not influence the stage of chain extension and rupture. 3. In liquid-phase oxidation of ethylbenzene lead oxide is intended to generate free radicals, the main source of which is the heterogeneous-catalytic decomposition of hydroperoxide. Rates of heterogeneous chain initiation were determined and the activation energy of this reaction calculated and found to be 22·8 kcal.mole.
