move-X: A system for combining video, computer animation, and GIS data
AbstractThe objective of the presented project was to implement a system for the visualization of proposed buildings. To show a proposed building exactly as it would appear if built, it is necessary to include the current neighbourhood in the visualization. The software solution designed permits creation of videos in which videotaped footage of the building site is merged with computer-generated images of the planned building. In order to overlay the video with computer-generated images, it is necessary to compute the exact position, the viewing direction, and the adjustment of the worn for every frame of the video. These parameters can be calculated from the video images. This paper gives an overview of the basic concepts of move-X and describes a pilot project carried out with the local government of Vienna.
