AbstractThe Republic of Yemen was shaken on 22 December 1991 by a small earthquake. The earthquake caused unexpectedly high damage to the houses that had already been weakened by a series of small shocks affecting the region. The bulk of the damaged houses were unreinforced stone masonry. A limited number of public buildings received only light damage. The affected population preferred to stay outside their houses from the fear of the possible collapse of their houses due to continuing earthquake swarm.
