Fire modeling and fire behavior in rooms
A brief review is made of fire modelling including reference to some fire models not involving combustion processes. Current fire models are capable of accommodating considerable complexities but the paper describes a new simple model of the compartment fire, which despite its crudity illustrates several features of room fires. The model is purely thermal and separates weak and strong feedback fires and demonstrates two types of thermal instabilities.
