Active centres of decationated zeolites in oxidative transformation of methanol
Summary Oxidation of methanol on hydrogen forms of synthetic zeolites, type L, and erionite and natural zeolites-erionite, chabazite, mordenite and clinoptilolite has been examined. Methanol is converted at various active centres to dimethyl ether, formaldehyde and carbonmonoxides. Consideration of catalytic activity and IR spectra indicate that dehydration takes place mainly at Brönsted acidic centres, whereas polycharged cations are mainly significant for oxidative dehydrogenation.
