Interactive vibrations of stringer stiffened cylinders
AbstractIn the analysis of stiffened shells, it is usually assumed that the stiffeners are located close together and the stiffened section is approximated as an equivalent monocoque section with the corresponding elastic constants for extensional, bending and twisting, that is, so called the smear model. The present paper suggests a new analytical model which can improve the smear model by accounting for the interactive vibrations of stringer stiffened cylinders. By means of the interactive model the frequency equation, used to determine natural frequencies and modes, is derived. The interactive behaviour of simply supported stringer stiffened cylinders is described. The analysis results show that it is very important to consider the interactive behaviour for the vibrations of large diameter stringer stiffened cylinders.
