International finance and housing policies in developing countries
AbstractThe World Bank and international donor agencies have begun the process of extending and reforming their theory and practice of low income housing during the 1980s. They are placing a greater emphasis upon whole-sector housing development and the creation of modernized housing finance networks. This article discusses the changing theories and practices of low income housing, covering pragmatic issues in finance and the general neoliberalist political economy of World Bank activities in housing in the developing countries.
