Instrinsic sorption potential of cement components for 134Cs
AbstractThe sorptive powers of radioactive Cs for partially or fully hydrated compounds present in cement has been determined at ∼18°C for [Cs+] ∼ 2 × 10−4M. In CO2-free conditions, the hydration products of the silicate, aluminate, ferrite and sulphate phases show negligible sorption, typically less than 0.3%, in experiments ranging in duration between 1h and 40d.
