Approximate reasoning for falsework safety assessment
Abstract Falsework-related problems have increasingly become a major public concern. These problems are often expressed subjectively in linguistic terms. This paper discusses the use of non-deterministic analysis based on approximate reasoning for assessing falsework safety. Mathematical and graphical models are presented using fuzzy set and fuzzy logic concepts. The order of importance of fuzzy probability determines the criticality of significant event combinations that have the potential to cause the falsework to fail. The methods developed herein may be used as a tool to construct quality control measures to minimize falsework failures. A case study is presented.
