The gibraltar hill tunnels, Monmouth (Great Britain)
Abstract Two road tunnels each about 600 ft. long have recently been constructed near Monmouth on the New Midlands road, which will take the place of the existing Newport to Worcester trunk road, between Newport and Monmouth. An account is given of the investigations which were carried out to enable the tunnel to be designed. A more detailed description is given of the geology discovered during the construction. This agrees well the predicted geology. The basis of the design of the lining is discussed.
