Oil pollution liability amendments adopted to civil liability and fund conventions
The Civil Liability Convention of 1969 and the Fund Convention of 1971 were amended at an International Conference on Liability and Compensation for Damage in Connection with the Carriage of Certain Substances by Sea held in London from 30 April to 25 May 1984. The changes in the Conventions, their implication and the arguments leading to the alterations are discussed. An assessment is made of the importance of the decisions taken at the Diplomatic Conference and the consequences for persons claiming for pollution damage.
