Wind pressures on roofs with closed ventilators
Abstract Experiments were carried out on models with and without closed ventilators in order to study their influence on wind pressures on main and ventilator roof surfaces. The models exposed to a turbulent shear flow. Pressure coefficients were calculated for approximately 14000 points, with wind incidence at 15° intervals. The results include values of pressure and force coefficients, showing their variation with wind incidence and height of the ventilator, as well as typical transverse profiles of pressure coefficients. The tests show that with or without ventilators, the worst suction (local or surface-averaged values) appeared with oblique with incidences different from 45°. A closed ventilator is favorable with respect to wind forces on the main roofs tested, but strong forces appeared on the ventilator roofs.
