Abstract Utilizing heat treatment for making low-quality recycled aggregate (LRA) into heat-enhanced recycled aggregate (HRA) and heat-activated recycled cement (HRC) provides a new way for the high-value utilization of LRA. Heat treatment could well remove the old mortar from LRA for preparing HRA, and HRA had much better physical and mechanical properties than LRA. Although incorporating high-content HRA and HRC both negatively impacted the concrete performance, the recycled concrete with HRA and HRC had much better properties than the recycled concrete with LRA and common recycled powder. Optimizing HRA and HRC content could prepare fully recycled concrete with good performance.
