Effects of bottom friction and boundary absorption on water wave scattering
Hybrid element formulation is developed to study the oscillation of linear waves with bottom frictionand boundary absorption. Bottom friction is assumed proportional to flow velocity with a phase difference, and boundary absorption adopts a condition similar to the impedance condition in acoustics. Numerical results of a fully open rectangular harbor for various bottom friction coefficients, phase differences, and boundary reflection coefficients are presented and compared with the existing experimental data.
