Smoke concentration levels in a monitoring network in Athens, Greece
Abstract In this paper a study of smoke concentration levels in a monitoring network of six stations belonging to the National Observatory of Athens is presented. An analysis of smoke monthly mean values between 1974 and 1982 shows a general trend towards lower values. This implies cleaner air in the Athens basin in recent years as far as smoke is concerned. Applying a regression technique to 1982 smoke data, equations are derived to relate the daily smoke levels at each station to those at the other five. This means that if a station fails to work for a period its values can be estimated.
