Knowledge transfer from poor to rich cities
A new turn of events
AbstractAs we approach the end of the 20th century there are signs that the transfer of knowledge, hitherto seen to be exclusively from rich countries to poor, is beginning to flow in the opposite direction as all countries struggle with the same spectrum of economic and social problems. Such a change in the direction of transfer challenges stereotypes and may herald an era of more equal intellectual relationships. Transfer of knowledge inevitably involves modification, which cannot but make countries more sensitive to the experiences and conditions of others.
