A static scum-breaking net for fixed-dome biogas plants
AbstractA static scum-breaking device in the form of a nylon net has been incorporated in a fixed-dome biogas plant to control scum formation and to provide a limited amount of stirring. The performance of the plant has been monitored for one year and compared to that of similar conventional plants. An annual performance ratio is defined so as to account for variable retention times, and has been found to be equal to unity for plants of the same design. The performance ratio for the plant with the scum-breaking net was found to be about 12% higher than that of conventional plants.
