Recent developments in glass fibre reinforced cement
The use of fibrous materials as tensile reinforcement for cementitious products having a relatively low tensile strength dates back to pre-Christian times. The physical properties of asbestos fibre have been widely exploited in this century to produce building products, especially sheet and board, based on Portland cement. Concern for the health risks of asbestos has accelerated the development of other suitable fibre reinforcement materials.
