Abstract A frame assembly (10) for an awning having a main support member (11) which is mounted to the roof racks (43) of a vehicle, a pivot assembly (23) at one end of the support member (11) by which a plurality of support arms (31) are pivotally mounted to one end of the main support member (al l) and a further arm (35) pivotally mounted to the other end of the main support member (11), the arms (31,35) being movable between a folded position in which they extend substantially longitudinally of the main support member (11) and an erected position in which the arms (31,35) extend outwardly from the main support member (11) and in which the arms (31,35) can support a cover fabric or material.
