Abstract A cornice block that is mounted at the junction of the wall and ceiling to accurately guide the cornice profile into position, resulting in very easy self alignment installation. The cornice block incorporates side extensions that are compatible with the corresponding shape at the rear of the cornice profile to provide a tight fitting connection via positive gripping. Two deep recesses at the wall and ceiling faces incorporate V grooves as screw guides for screws to mount the cornice block to the junction of the wall and ceiling. A central splayed portion houses a concealed fastener that engages into the rear of the cornice profile, locking the cornice profile to the cornice block through mechanical fixing, thus eliminating the need for cornice cement or adhesive.
