The livestock shed 1 has parallel rows of stanchions 4,6 rising from a concrete base 2 and a metal roof 3 which is built in two halves 14,16 which are separated by a central air gap 30. Each 5 roof half 14,16 has an inclined centre strip defining one half of the gap 30 edge. The roof portion 3 is generally concave. The resulting shed 1is of correspondingly low profile while still exerting good ventilation. In capped versions the gap 30 is surmounted by a convex roof cap 32 spaced above the gap 30 in order to allow ventilation while excluding precipitation.
