A modular element 10 for use in the creation of a formwork for making concrete floor or foundation slabs. The modular element 10 is a substantially stool-like hollow body 13 formed by an upper wall 15 which has a plurality of support legs 14 downwardly extending therefrom. The legs 14 define a plurality of open spaces 16.
