Abstract A sarking membrane comprises a reinforcing base sheet knitted with fibreglass element and having a water-resistant coating on both sides. A layer of aluminium can be bonded to the fibreglass substrate as radiant barrier layer to achieve some thermal value. Tiny penetrations can be applied throughout the layers to make the membrane breathable. The membrane will not only block the water from penetrating into the buildings, but also block the flame spreading through the cavity in case of fire.
