METHOD OF EXTRACTING FLUID FROM GROUND
The invention provides a method of extracting fluid from ground, the fluid being disposed in a fluid affected region above a subsurface which is relatively fluid impermeable, the method comprising the steps of: drilling a horizontal extraction well through the subsurface beneath the fluid affected region; forcing liquid through the horizontal extraction well into the subsurface under sufficient pressure to create drainage channels through the subsurface into the fluid affected region; inserting a fluid permeable pipe into the horizontal extraction well; and collecting fluid draining into the fluid permeable pipe from the fluid affected region through the drainage channels.
