The invention relates to folding pliers (1) for bending sheet metal (8), having a first clamping area (2) and a second clamping area (3), wherein the clamping areas (2, 3) are connected rotatably about a first rotation axis (4), and also a first grip piece (6) and a second grip piece (7) pivotably connected to the first grip piece (6), wherein the first grip piece (6) is connected to the first clamping area (2). In order to achieve a tool that is robust and at the same time easy to handle, it is provided according to the invention that the second grip piece (7) is connected to the second clamping area (3) rotatably about a second rotation axis (5), so that, when the first grip piece (6) is pivoted in relation to the second grip piece (7) out of a transporting position, the first clamping area (2) is moved in relation to the second clamping area (3) in such a way that a sheet (8) arranged between the clamping areas (2, 3) can be clamped by the clamping areas (2, 3), after which a further pivoting movement of the first grip piece (6) in relation to the second grip piece (7) brings about a rotating movement of the first clamping area (2) together with the second clamping area (3) in relation to the second grip piece (7) about the second rotation axis (5) in order to bend the clamped sheet (8).
