The invention provides an improved wall panel system, essentially consisting of simplified modular components, interconnected one to another using the principle of tongue and groove interface. With a particular emphasis on acoustical performance, the panels are constructed with an objective of achieving considerable mass, using a combination of sheet metal, metal tube and compressed mineral wool or fiberglass sheathing. The mineral wool or fiberglass also contributes to the absorption principles of acoustical performance. Given the inherent weight, the panel module is split along its centerline into two or more elements, such that during fabrication, delivery and installation, manipulation is more easily conducted. To enable easy removal, the elements are conjoined using a simple hook and loop fastener, which also has a dampening effect on possible resonance. The invention offers a simple, effective alternative to conventional built-in-place and modular walls.
